THE MOJO NAVIGATORS
were formed in 1995 by singer/songwriter Page Brownton to explore the literary depth and melodic potential of traditional Americana as well as his original songs. As a songwriter, Page Brownton invokes the collective archetypes of American folk culture, and his interpretations of traditional material have the ring of authenticity.
They are an acoustic trio of veteran musicians whose collective experience encompasses a broad range of historically significant musical styles.
PAGE BROWNTON
A native of the San Francisco Bay area and a veteran of the 1960's folk music revival, Page witnessed and participated in the flowering of a new culture. After graduating from high school in 1958, he studied literature and poetry for the better part of 10 years as a student at San Jose State College; he bought his first guitar in 1959 and studied finger-style guitarwith folk music pioneer Rolf Cahn. In 1962 and 1963 he was president of the San Jose State College Folk Music Club, and produced a series of memorable concerts showcasing American ethnic musicians and blues artists.
RICK STEVENS
Rick Stevens, lgendary resonator guitar wizard of the San Lorenzo Delta, in his youth soaked up the passion and intensity of the black bluesmen of the 1920s and 1930s, many of them blind. Later, he was affectionately dubbed "Blind Rick" by his musical associates.
ROSCOE VAN HORNE
Roscoe Van Horne grew up in Philadelphia in the sixties. Early exposure to Folk Music and Blues led to a serious infection for which there seems to be no cure. Page and Rick have inspired a deep relapse
